An article contributed by CERIC to the Fall 2012 issue of Career Options magazine aims to help students understand the full value of their university or college career centres – beyond the resume review.

Titled “Resumes and so much more. Career Centres also help with job shadowing and scotch appreciation,” the articles includes interviews with career centre managers from York University, Nova Scotia Community College, University of Alberta and Laval University.

The story explores how the majority of students who use their career centres only skim the surface. It explains that while services offered will vary by centre, most provide help with researching careers, understanding your skills, gaining work experience, preparing for interviews and more.

CERIC provided the article as part of its mandate to educate and increase the public’s understanding of career counselling. Career Options magazine is produced by the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE).
