Zarina Giannone is a PhD student in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC), working under the co-supervision of Drs. David Kealy and Daniel Cox. She also received her BA (Psychology, 2012) and MA (Counselling Psychology, 2016) at UBC. Her competitive athletic history, playing on the Canadian National Soccer Team (youth) and the UBC Women’s Soccer Team, has inspired her research and clinical work with athletes. Zarina has been the recipient of several prestigious academic awards including the Joseph Armand Bombardier Scholarship (Master’s and Doctoral SSHRC) and a Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (UBC). She is passionate about student leadership and recently completed a three-year term as a Board Member on the Canadian Psychological Association’s Board of Directors.  Zarina works as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Mental Health Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at UBC.
