D\u2019une part, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un exercice crucial qui leur donne confiance et qui facilite l\u2019exploration des carri\u00e8res dans ce domaine. D\u2019autre part, ayant pass\u00e9 trois \u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e0 travailler dans un camp de g\u00e9nie et de sciences, j\u2019esp\u00e8re ne plus jamais avoir \u00e0 passer un apr\u00e8s-midi \u00e0 assembler des circuits avec 25\u00a0enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de six ans.<\/p>\n<p>Blague \u00e0 part, la valeur d\u2019une \u00e9ducation dans les STIM est bien \u00e9tablie. M\u00eame pour les personnes qui ne suivent pas l\u2019un des nombreux parcours professionnels auxquels m\u00e8ne une formation dans ce domaine, l\u2019\u00e9tude de ces mati\u00e8res peut favoriser le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un esprit critique, des aptitudes \u00e0 r\u00e9soudre des probl\u00e8mes et des capacit\u00e9s d\u2019analyse (Parlons Sciences et Amgen Canada, 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Toutefois, lorsque nous pensons aux carri\u00e8res dans les STIM, nous devons \u00e9galement prendre en compte le march\u00e9 du travail et le climat social de notre \u00e9poque. Comment les avanc\u00e9es technologiques influenceront-elles ces secteurs? Qui pourra profiter des possibilit\u00e9s dans les STIM et qui ne pourra pas en profiter?<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs articles du pr\u00e9sent num\u00e9ro traitent des changements dans les STIM dus aux rapides transformations technologiques. Caroline\u00a0Burgess laisse entendre que les personnes qui souhaitent poursuivre une carri\u00e8re dans les STIM peuvent traverser cette p\u00e9riode mouvement\u00e9e en se concentrant sur quatre \u00e9l\u00e9ments fondamentaux, alors que Lucie\u00a0Demers soutient que les attentes de r\u00e9ussite en sciences ne correspondent pas toujours \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9.
