Career development professionals across Canada support clients navigating a rapidly changing, uncertain labour market and non-linear career paths. Many clients experience stress,\u00a0fatigue\u00a0and disengagement during complex transitions, while Canadian and international workforce data show that adaptability,\u00a0creativity\u00a0and emotional resilience are essential employability skills. As a result, CDPs are increasingly expected to help clients strengthen these skills while\u00a0maintaining\u00a0engagement and delivering effective interventions. Yet many practices\u00a0remain\u00a0predominantly cognitive\u00a0and task-focused, often struggling to sustain engagement or address the emotional and motivational dimensions of career transitions.\u00a0<\/p>

Grounded in positive psychology, neuroscience and adult learning research,\u00a0this new\u00a0webinar\u00a0series\u00a0presents playfulness as an evidence-informed\u00a0methodology\u00a0for career development. Playful approaches are more than just engaging \u2013 they are effective. Positive emotions broaden cognitive flexibility and support behavioural change (Fredrickson, 2001), while play-based approaches enhance learning,\u00a0experimentation\u00a0and self-efficacy in adults (Brown, 2009). Finally, emerging research links playful work design to higher engagement and adaptability\u00a0\u2013\u00a0critical skills for thriving in today\u2019s fast-changing labour market (Scharp et al., 2023).\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

By engaging in this\u00a0webinar\u00a0series, career development professionals will deepen their understanding of the science behind playfulness, learning and behaviour change, and how these principles apply directly to career conversations.\u00a0The series\u00a0will be\u00a0highly\u00a0interactive and practice-oriented, blending brief evidence-informed inputs with experiential learning through live polls, quizzes, breakout rooms, guided\u00a0reflection\u00a0and hands-on experimentation with playful and game-based tools.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Attendees will learn how to use playful and game-based techniques to increase client engagement,\u00a0motivation\u00a0and reflective capacity \u2013 without sacrificing rigour or professionalism.\u00a0<\/p>

The series offers ready-to-use tools and micro-interventions that can be integrated into one-to-one counselling, group programming,\u00a0workshops\u00a0and employability services. Participants will also gain practical strategies for designing career conversations that support adaptability,\u00a0creativity\u00a0and self-efficacy, particularly with clients experiencing overwhelm or career uncertainty.\u00a0Throughout the series, participants\u00a0will\u00a0actively test and reflect on playful approaches to build professional capability and confidence. They\u00a0will\u00a0also receive a practical playbook\/workbook, with optional between-session exercises to support real-world application.\u00a0<\/p>

Upon completion, attendees can expect to walk away with a clear framework for applying playfulness ethically and intentionally in practice, increased confidence in\u00a0facilitating\u00a0engaging career interventions, and renewed professional energy grounded in evidence-based methods that support both client outcomes and practitioner well-being.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
