As a part of the continuing celebrations of CERIC’s 10th anniversary in 2014, we are pleased to present a series of FREE webinars with some of our project partners, offering updates and insights in key areas of career development research.

Content for this webinar is drawn from the forthcoming revisions to the popular The Decade After High School: A Professional’s Guide. The new book outlines in more detail the context in which young people’s career journeys are unfolding and the strategies they use to find a career-related place. It also introduces techniques that can help career professionals integrate traditional career counselling practice with chaos-oriented approaches that emphasize that most young people’s career journeys are characterized by change and unpredictability.

You will learn:

  • What research tells us about the challenges young people face in the decade after high school graduation
  • The five strategies that young people use to find satisfying work and what internal and external factors impact on which they use
  • 7 career crafting techniques that career professionals can use to normalize change and to help young people be proactive in the face of uncertainty

Cathy Campbell has over 20 years’ experience as a researcher, career counsellor, program developer and manager in school, community college, university, and government settings. She has extensive experience at both a client and program level in helping young adults make effective transition into post-secondary education and the workplace. Cathy recently completed a PhD and was the co-investigator for the Stories of Transition research project that was conducted by Dalhousie University in partnership with CERIC.
