Joan Schiebelbein

CERIC_headshots_schielbedbeinJoan Schiebelbein is the Director of CAPS: Your U of A Career Centre. She began working with CAPS in September 1988 eventually taking on responsibility for developing and managing the unit’s career education programming and Career Peer Educator (CPE) program.

Joan’s formal education includes a BA (1986), BA – Honours in Political Science (1988), Certificate in Public Administration (1999) and Master of Education in Adult and Higher Education (2005), all of which are from the University of Alberta. The focus of her graduate work was on work and learning.

In addition to her work with CAPS, Joan currently serves on the U of A’s Community Service-Learning Advisory Board and the Assessment Working Group within University Student Services.

Outside of the U of A, Joan is involved with the Alberta Labour History Institute, which collects and preserves workers’ history primarily through oral history interviews. She currently serves as Board Secretary.
