The Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE – pronounced Casey) is a national, non-profit association dedicated to facilitating the process of introducing students to employment opportunities. As a partnership of employer recruiters and career educators, CACEE’s mission is to provide authoritative information, advice and services to employers, students, and career centre personnel in the areas of career planning and student recruitment.
CACEE has well over 600 members, many of who participate on the association’s various committees and boards. These volunteers are active in helping the association with everything from setting ethical guidelines for recruitment of post-secondary students to organizing CACEE’s annual national and regional conferences. The association’s membership is divided into four regions (Canada West, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic) which are served by offices in Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal.
In addition to its conferences and other professional development activities, CACEE is well known for its many career-related publications. Over 200,000 copies of Career Options magazine is published annually in three different editions for graduating students. CACEE’s books, such as Don’t Wait ‘Til You Graduate, Get Wired, You’re Hired (student edition), and Making It Work are very successful job search publications for students (with the latter being a Canadian best-seller).
CACEE is also very active online. CACEE’s WorkWeb (www.cacee.com) is Canada’s online campus career centre. The site is divided into two main areas: one for career educators and employers and the other for students and recent graduates. Among many other services, employers and educators can use the site to promote their organizations, connect to CACEE’s discussion group (CACEENet), link to a broad array of relevant sites, read the association’s newsletter, or to access a directory of campus career fairs. Students and recent graduates can access online versions of CACEE’s magazines, link to employer profiles, and many other tools.
Along with its post-secondary institution partners and Industry Canada, CACEE recently developed Campus WorkLink – a national internet-based job posting system for universities and colleges across Canada. This password-access service boasts Canada’s largest database of employment opportunities for students in the country.
