Position Summary  

Reporting to the Director, Technology and Design, Marketing and Communications, the Specialist, Digital, Marketing and Communications plays a key role in advancing CERIC’s visibility and engagement through integrated digital marketing, advertising and content optimization. This position manages paid and organic social media campaigns, digital advertising, analytics and content development while ensuring consistent implementation of CERIC’s brand across platforms. The Specialist contributes to the promotion of CERIC’s projects, publications and the Cannexus conference and works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all communications and digital materials reflect professionalism, accessibility and alignment with CERIC’s mission.

Core Responsibilities 

Digital Marketing and Campaigns

  • Implement and assess digital marketing campaigns supporting CERIC programs, projects, publications and events including the Cannexus conference
  • Design and deploy targeted eblasts and subscriber campaigns to expand engagement
  • Manage Google Ads and other paid marketing platforms, monitoring and optimizing results
  • Create digital promotional packages for supporting organizations and partners
  • Manage paid and organic social media activities and report on analytics to inform ongoing campaign decisions
  • Co-ordinate French translations for digital materials using internal and external resources
  • Support marketing, learning and advocacy projects as required

Website Management and Optimization

  • Support the ongoing development of CERIC’s WordPress website under the supervision of the Director, Technology and Design, Marketing and Communications
  • Create and maintain key webpages that support major CERIC initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and user experience best practices
  • Write and edit content for CERIC’s website such as news updates and resource descriptions to support ongoing projects, publications and events
  • Contribute to improving key pages to align with CERIC’s visual identity and content goals
  • Optimize existing website content to improve clarity, relevance and accessibility
  • Use analytics to identify opportunities and implement SEO improvements that boost content’s visibility and audience engagement.

Social Media Implementation

  • Oversee and co-ordinate daily social media activities across all CERIC channels
  • Schedule posts, prepare visuals and copy, and monitor results using analytics tools
  • Oversee engagement across CERIC’s social channels by responding to comments and inquiries and identifying opportunities to deepen audience interaction
  • Coordinate social media collaboration with CERIC partners, ensuring aligned messaging, tagging and timely sharing of partner content across platform
  • Track social media metrics, report on trends and recommend improvements based on performance data
  • Collaborate with the Co-ordinator, Marketing and Communications to maintain a regular posting schedule and cohesive online presence

Brand, Design and Content Development

  • Support implementation of brand architecture and standards through collateral, digital content and publications
  • Format bilingual communications consistent with CERIC’s objectives and brand standards
  • Design and produce materials for ads (print, web, search), brochures, presentations, correspondence and reports
  • Create and use infographics, video and other multimedia tools to enhance storytelling
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and external designers as needed for production and brand alignment
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Web Development and Design, Digital Media
  • Two to three years of experience and knowledge of website and digital marketing fundamentals
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability in using WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Hands-on experience with HTML and CSS
  • Skilled in MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) or Canva
  • Knowledgeable with email management systems and data management practices (MailChimp, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience with organic and paid social media across key platforms using a variety of tools (e.g. Buffer)
  • Strong writing and editing skills for digital communications; excellent verbal communication skills
  • Video editing skills to produce and adapt content
  • Familiarity with ethical and responsible use of AI-assisted tools to support content creation, analysis and workflow efficiency
  • Knowledge of SEO, web and social media analytics
  • Accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
  • Highly organized with very effective project and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as well as independently
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Adaptable and proactive approach
  • Experience with desktop publishing an asset
  • Demonstrated capacity to consistently meet CERIC competency expectations at the Early to mid-Career level

Additionally, this position is being funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs program. As such, the hire MUST be:
