Roxana Zuleta graduated with a Masters of Education and a diploma in Post-secondary Studies from York University in 2011. She is a consultant for the Financial Literacy Program –FAPS- at the Jane/Finch Community and Family Centre in Toronto. She managed and supervised programs in the non-profit sector for 9 years. Roxana volunteered for two years with the Latin American Researchers of Ontario “LARO”, a non-profit association that aims to promote research on Latin America and latin American in Ontario. In her daily work experiences with people from different ethnic backgrounds, Roxana has learned about attitudes, strategies and barriers immigrant parents experience in supporting their children’s educational performance. Her research interest is to investigate the barriers that parents and young Latin Americans face in the educational system to access Post-Secondary Education. Roxana teaches part-time at Mothercraft and Humber College in the Early Childhood Education Program. Her philosophy of teaching is bringing the world to the classroom, so students learn the importance to provide inclusion and diversity in early learning programs. Her hobbies are reading and nature walks.
