Jan Basso is currently Director, Co-operative Education & Career Development at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario where she has been instrumental in the design and delivery of career development services since 1976. As the Director, she is committed to the provision of comprehensive services which enable students and alumni to identify and realize their goals. At the same time, she values strong employer relationships and has established a wide range of services to assist employers in successfully meeting their recruiting needs. In addition, Jan has extensive experience in the development of information systems, co-ordination of Career/Job Fairs, the implementation of student peer advising and alumni networking programs, and graduate surveys. She has been a major contributor to the development and maintenance of pay equity and job evaluation systems at Laurier.
Jan is a Laurier alumnus and also obtained a Master’s degree in Higher Education from the University of Toronto. She has held a number of leadership roles in the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers and has been awarded their Outstanding Achievement Award as well as their Award of Merit on two occasions. She is also a founding member of the Canadian Career Information Association.
Jan is a nationally-recognized leader in the field of career development at the post-secondary level who has demonstrated a life-long commitment to sharing her expertise.
