Career Management Association of BC (CMABC)

Formally launched in 1996 as the Labour Market and Career Information Association of BC, today, the Career Management Association of BC exists to identify and move forward the interests and needs of organizations, associations and practitioners impacted by career development, management and information within the Province of British Columbia.

Governed by a board of directors, the association works in collaborative partnership to develop and deliver products, services and solutions to BC’s diverse career development community.

Products and projects to date have included:

  • BC’s Annual Career Development Conference
  • BC’s Annual Career Development Award of Excellence
  • Internet Access Projects including: BCWorkInfoNet and Job Seeker’s Internet Access Project
  • Career Development Resource Design and Development
  • Career Information Hotline Feasibility Study
  • Professional Standards and Development for Career Practitioners in BC
  • Co-host of 2001 International Career Development Symposium
  • Co-host of 2001 Going for Gold Career Development Conference
  • Roundtable, conference and forum leaders and committee representatives

Focus is given to products and projects that promote the:

  • professional development of the career development community
  • role of the career development community within the social, education and economic tapestry of the Province
  • integration of career management and development standards, guidelines, best practices and resources into the operations of organizations and associations
  • inclusion of differing community needs throughout the Province of British Columbia
