Explore 140+ sessions: Program now available for Cannexus26 conference
September 26, 2025As part of the second Global Careers Month, CERIC is partnering with the Canadian Career Development Foundation (CCDF) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA) to once again present a free virtual panel, “Amplifying advocacy: career development in a disrupted world of work,” on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm ET.
The panel will feature a dynamic line-up of leaders who will discuss taking action on today’s pressing challenges – from youth and long-term unemployment to service reductions, rising living costs and the impacts of AI. Participants can expect an engaging conversation on how to mobilize advocacy, with strategies, tools and ideas to amplify their own voices and those of the people and communities most affected. Panellists will share real-world examples of efforts under way to drive change and offer take-aways for practitioners’ own work.
Panellists include:
- Dr. Candy Ho (moderator), Chancellor’s Research Chair, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Past President, CERIC
- Janet Morris-Reade, CEO, ASPECT BC
- Dr. Sharon Givens, CEO, Visions Counseling and Career Center and former President, NCDA
- Shelby McIntyre, Career Counsellor, Pasadena City College and NCDA Government Relations Committee
- Dr. Tristram Hooley, Professor and Researcher, UK
- Dr. Wendy Cukier, Professor and Director, Diversity Institute and Future Skills Centre
This event builds on CERIC’s commitment to strengthen advocacy capacity in Canada and internationally. The panel is held in conjunction with North America Career Week, comes during Canada Career Month, and also forms part of a series of global and regional events being promoted throughout November 2025 by the Inter-Agency Working Group on Career Guidance (IAG WGCG), which includes Cedefop, the European Commission, ETF, ILO, OECD, UNESCO and the World Bank. The International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG) is serving as a key partner and focal point for co-ordinating activities this year.
Registration is free and open to all career development professionals in Canada, the US and beyond. Pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, visit the NCDA event page. (Note if you are not an NCDA member, or if you don’t have an existing NCDA account, you will need to create one – can be done quickly and easily! – at no cost, as part of your registration.)
