Overview of the webinar series
Today’s youth face numerous and rapidly changing challenges as they enter and strive for success in the workplace. The pace of technological change, psychosocial impacts of social media, AI and broader societal uncertainties contribute to stresses and social emotional behavioural gaps that can impede employment success. In an ideal world, these skills would be addressed before entering the workforce, leaving career practitioners to focus on career exploration, job search and interview preparation. In reality, limited resources and an overemphasis on hard skills mean these gaps often land squarely in practitioners’ hands – creating both a challenge and an opportunity to make a real difference.
This three-part webinar series will equip career practitioners with the knowledge and tools to adjust their coaching practices so that clients can develop social emotional skills (SES) and behavioural competencies that are critical for employability and long-term career success.
Why career professionals should attend
By attending this series, participants will benefit from Futureworx’s experience in developing and applying a social emotional skills coaching model across centres of learning, training sites and employment centres. Participants will explore the model – used in a variety of settings with diverse user groups, including Future Skills Centre projects – and learn how to integrate behavioural coaching techniques into their existing practice. Through guided discussion and interactive learning, participants will examine how to overcome barriers to implementation, apply observation and feedback strategies, and help clients strengthen critical traits such as resilience, motivation and confidence – key factors in meeting employer expectations.
This series will help you understand the challenges associated with coaching social emotional and behavioural skills and give you practical tools to tackle them.
Specifically, your learning outcomes will include:
- A clear understanding of social emotional skills and why they are different from other skills
- How effective coaching can alter social emotional behaviours through observation, feedback and practice
- How applying this type of coaching requires adjustments in your practice and use of available resources
By the end of the series, participants will walk away with actionable approaches to help clients enhance employability, confidence and long-term workplace success.
Note: While this webinar series focuses on supporting youth employment outcomes, the behavioural coaching approaches and social emotional skills explored are highly transferable and can be applied effectively with adult learners, newcomers, career transitioners and other diverse client groups.

Webinar 1: Understand Social Emotional Skills and Behavioural Coaching

- Define social emotional skills (SES)
- Explain how SES are both similar to and different from other “hard” skills
- Explore Futureworx skills framework and relate it to Skills for Success
- Appreciate how behavioural norms vary by culture, sector, etc.
- Balance employer and employee needs and expectations related to behaviours
Webinar 2: Apply the Core Elements of Behavioural Coaching

- Understand and explain the importance of consistent skill definitions and clear examples of behaviours that employers expect
- Appreciate the benefits of integrating behavioural coaching into programming
- Explain the role of observation, feedback and discussion in behavioural coaching
- Discuss why applying social emotional skills [SES] assessment requires a team approach
Webinar 3: Overcome Barriers to Embedding Behavioural Coaching in Your Practice

- Identify common organizational, structural and barriers that prevent practitioners and leaders from embedding behavioural coaching into day-to-day practice
- Examine how personal beliefs, comfort levels and past experiences can unintentionally limit professional growth and effective coaching
- Apply practical strategies to overcome resistance and implementation challenges, strengthening your confidence and consistency when working with youth
- Access tools, frameworks and resources to support the integration of behavioural coaching into your practice

How to Register and What to Expect:
- During checkout and payment, you will be prompted to create an account on our CERIC Learning Hub.
- Provide your contact details and set a password to complete registration.
- Already have an account? Simply log in using the email and password you used to create your account.
- After registration, you’ll be directed to the learning items you purchased.
- Here, you can access lesson chapters, Zoom links for sessions and other important information.
- You’ll also receive a Welcome Email with your profile access and details about the learning product you purchased.
- Zoom links for each live webinar are shared in their respective lessons. Simply open the “Session” chapter, then select the lesson titled “Live Session (date of session)” to access the Zoom link.
