Position Summary  

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator provides hands-on support for CERIC’s marketing, learning and advocacy activities. This position assists with digital content updates, interestholder research and outreach, and the co-ordination of webinars and Learning Hub offerings. The Co-ordinator supports the promotion of CERIC’s projects, publications and the Cannexus conference, ensuring quality and consistency in all communications while contributing to the effective day-to-day implementation of marketing and communications operations.

Core Responsibilities 

Web and Digital Content Support

  • Update and maintain CERIC’s WordPress websites to ensure content accuracy, functionality and accessibility
  • Support website updates by preparing and uploading approved content and visual assets
  • Maintain online subscription and registration forms and assist with data entry and integration tasks
  • Maintain up-to-date contact and distribution lists in Mailchimp, Salesforce and other relevant databases

Design and Content Production

  • Format and send e-newsletters, e-blasts and other digital communications using approved templates.
  • Design and prepare visual assets, brochures and presentations using brand-approved tools and templates
  • Coordinate implementation of French-language content in various communication
  • Maintain brand files, templates and image libraries, assembling materials as needed for campaigns or events

Social Media and Outreach

  • Help maintain CERIC’s social media content calendar to ensure timely posting and alignment with campaigns and events
  • Prepare and schedule posts and visuals across CERIC’s social channels in line with brand and accessibility standards
  • Support content sharing and coordination across CERIC’s partner and interestholder channels
  • Contribute to preparing promotional materials for publications, resources, events and conferences

Research and Data Management

  • Conduct research on audiences, partners, events and media relevant to CERIC’s communications and outreach priorities
  • Identify upcoming events and opportunities for CERIC participation and help co-ordinate organizational involvement
  • Research and update contact lists, directories and outreach records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Gather and organize information and data to inform marketing reports, outreach strategies and future engagement initiatives

Webinars, Courses and Learning Support

  • Set up registration, content and materials for CERIC webinars and courses (live and on-demand) and coordinate logistics to ensure a smooth participant experience
  • Respond to event-related support requests to ensure timely assistance and a positive learning experience
  • Provide technical support during live sessions and assist with setup and troubleshooting
  • Integrate webinar and course recordings and related resources into CERIC’s Learning Hub and other digital platforms
  • Support post-event activities including video editing, follow-up communications and compiling registration or analytics data for reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Web Development and Design, Digital Media
  • One to two years of experience and knowledge of website and marketing fundamentals
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience using WordPress or other CMS platforms and familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or Canva
  • Video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Buffer or similar
  • Proficiency in data management and email marketing platforms including Mailchimp and Salesforce
  • Experience managing paid digital marketing campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads) and optimizing performance based on analytics
  • Familiarity with online registration and learning platforms (e.g. Thinkific, Kajabi, Zoom, EventBrite)
  • Knowledge of web and social media analytics with the ability to interpret and report basic metrics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly organized with effective project and time management abilities
  • Creative thinker with initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and independently when required
  • Awareness of ethical and responsible use of AI-assisted tools in communications and marketing contexts
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Demonstrated capacity to consistently meet CERIC competency expectations at the Early Career level.

Additionally, this position is being funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs program. As such, the hire MUST be: 

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
