Empowering Organizations Through Career Development – A Blueprint for Creating Career Development Centres of Expertise
September 23, 2026Building the Job-Readiness Bridge: Spotlight on Career Coaching
October 31, 2026November is Canada Career Month, and this year the conversation about career development stretches well beyond our borders. Over four weeks, CERIC is taking part in events that connect the work of career professionals in Canada to their counterparts across North America and internationally – including a global panel that brings together the heads of career development associations from several continents.
The month opens on Tuesday, Nov. 10, with a spotlight on Canada from two international organizations. The International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy (ICCDPP) and the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) are hosting Canada in Focus: AI Leadership, Governance and Practice in PES, a free webinar on how artificial intelligence is shaping public employment services. Sareena Hopkins, CEO of the Canadian Career Development Foundation (CCDF) will speak on the policy implications.
Three days later, on Friday, Nov. 13, CERIC Executive Director Kay Castelle joins leaders of professional bodies from Asia, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and the United States for APCDA Global Panel: Stronger Together, hosted by the Asia Pacific Career Development Association. The online panel asks what career development associations can achieve when they work together, with discussion of the field’s future, international collaboration, advocacy and how the sector can stay resilient. APCDA will present findings and recommendations from the session at its 2027 hybrid conference in Singapore.
Sini Parampota, APCDA President-Elect and Founding Chair of its International Collaboration Workgroup, will moderate. The panel includes:
- Kay Castelle, Executive Director, CERIC
- Bret Anderson, PhD, President, National Career Development Association (NCDA)
- Yoshimi Sasaki, President, Japan Career Development Association
- Charlotte George, President, People and Career Development Association (Singapore)
- Ahmed Mostafa Kamal, President and co-founding member, Arab Career Development Association
- Sue Alder, Head of Professional Development & Standards, Career Development Institute (UK)
The free session runs from 7 to 8:30 a.m. ET (4 a.m. PT, 5 a.m. MT, 6 a.m. CT, 8 a.m. AT, 8:30 a.m. NT).
The following week, Nov. 16 – 20, is North America Career Week. CERIC, CCDF and NCDA have marked the week together since 2022, and this year the three organizations will be shining a light on the people, tools and research that support career development professionals and the people they serve on both sides of the border. Follow along on social media using #amplify.
November closes in Auckland, New Zealand, where the global career development community gathers for two major events. The ICCDPP International Symposium, Nov. 22 – 24, brings together policymakers, researchers and practitioners from around the world, with CERIC as a first-time sponsor. It is followed by the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG) conference, Nov. 25 – 27, where presenters from across North America will share their work with an international audience.
From a national awareness month to a continental week to gatherings on the other side of the world, November is a reminder that career development is a shared project – and that what practitioners in Canada learn and build has value far beyond it.
