By Paul Kitchin, Executive Director, National Association of Career Colleges (NACC)

NACC is an “umbrella” organization representing private career training institutions from across Canada and companies offering products and services to those institutions. NACC represents, supports and protects the interests of its membership by identifying the issues affecting private career training institutions and by contributing to the decision-making process. It keeps members informed and helps government understand the important role of private training institutions in providing skills training in Canada. It also helps provincial associations and individual members by providing them with relevant information, support and assistance.

NACC publications include a monthly NACC newsletter, bulletins and an annual guide to private career training in Canada – distributed to students, high schools, H.R.D. offices, and government offices in Canada.

NACC holds an annual conference which provides opportunities for networking, for professional development in the form of seminars/workshops for owners and their staff and an opportunity for Associate Members to showcase their services. NACC has also been involved in setting national standards since its inception and continues that tradition with its accreditation service through the National Accreditation Commission (NAC).

NACC recognizes exemplary leadership through a number of awards presented at its annual conference: The National Leadership Award recognizes outstanding contribution by an active member to the association and to the private training industry in Canada; and awards to schools who demonstrate significant achievement in specific areas such as placement, community service, public relations and student success.
