Research on hope, social justice in latest Canadian Journal of Career Development
February 6, 2015A record-setting Cannexus National Career Development Conference!
February 11, 2015Our popular Career Development Matters t-shirts are available once again, now in orange! The shirts are intended to raise awareness of career development and start conversations about its value in schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods.
They read “Career Development Matters,” on the front and “Ask me Why” on the back. Shirts have been used for orientation weeks, outreach events and team-building activities.
“The t-shirts worked out great!” says Melissa Turner, Co-operative Education and Career Services, at the University of Guelph. Our group of 32 Peer Helpers wore the shirts to outreach events around campus and during their office hours to promote the message.”
The t-shirts are also intended to drive discussion online about how career development professionals are making a difference to Canadians. You can read the more than 30 postings from colleagues across the country and add to the conversation at ceric.ca/askmewhy. Some sample comments include:
“I believe that career development matters (both our own careers and those of our clients) because there are times when others see something in us that we cannot see for ourselves. As career professionals we can shift people’s personal perspectives and open up new opportunity.”
– Anne-Marie Rolfe, Employment & Education Centre
“Helping citizens connect with fulfilling, family-sustaining 21st century careers has become an economic imperative. The most effective way for governments to reduce deficits and debt, and for companies to increase productivity and grow, is by getting the right people in the right jobs, fully engaged in creating economic prosperity for their companies, their families, and their communities.”
– Phil Jarvis, Career Cruising
The new orange t-shirts can be purchased through CERIC’s ContactPoint MarketPlace. Shirts come in a variety of sizes for both men and women, as well as a French version. Career Development Matters toques are also available.
