Symposium on the Maturing Workforce to be part of Cannexus16 National Conference
CERIC is working with the Quebec-based CEDEC (Community Economic Development and Employability Corporation) to offer a symposium on integrating mature workers into the labour market. This Symposium on the Maturing Workforce will be embedded into the first day of the bilingual Cannexus16 National Career Development Conference, taking place January 25-27, 2016 at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa.
The conference is Canada’s largest for career counsellors, career development professionals and the career services sector, with 800 participants expected from across the country and internationally. The 2016 conference will be a special one with Cannexus marking its 10th anniversary!
The Cannexus conference is designed to promote the exchange of information and explore innovative approaches in career counselling and career development. The topic of a maturing workforce serves to increase the understanding of the benefits of hiring mature workers; invited employers will share their best practices regarding recruiting and hiring mature workers and implementing a multigenerational workforce strategy.
If you would like to have the opportunity of sharing your experience with mature workers at your company/organization, please contact Nina Kim at nina.kim@cedec.ca or 514.903.3753 x227. As part of Day 1 (Monday) of the Cannexus confererence, symposium delegates will get to hear the Opening Keynote from Spencer Niles, Dean & Professor, School of Education, The College of William and Mary, as well as a dedicated stream of programming examining issues around a maturing workforce. An evening Wine & Cheese where symposium delegates can network with all conference participants is also included.
Symposium delegates may also “upgrade” to attend the full 3-day Cannexus conference, which includes additional keynotes from:
- Ratna Omidvar – Executive Director, Global Diversity Exchange
- The Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair – Chair, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
- Wab Kinew – Writer, Journalist, Honourary Truth and Reconciliation Commission Witness
Additionally, with a full registration, symposium delegates can choose from more than 130 education sessions. As well, optional intensive pre-conference and post-conference workshops are available.
