CERIC will be hosting a free documentary preview screening of Redirection: Movers, Shakers and Shifters on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Toronto. Funded by CERIC, the Redirection: Work and Later Life Career Development project is a study focused on older workers, and now culminates in a film and forthcoming companion guide.

This project is led by Dr Suzanne Cook, a social gerontologist and Adjunct Professor at York University in the Department of Sociology and York’s Centre for Aging Research and Education. The new 33-minute documentary film examines what later life looks like today and the pursuit of a new direction through a second (or third) career. The goal is to provide better services, resources and tools for the unprecedented large number of older adults currently in or entering this stage of life.

Join us to learn:

  • What research tells us about the trend towards delayed retirement and expansion of working lives
  • The diversity of paid work undertaken by those 50+ and their later life career needs
  • Best practices for working with older adults on employment and career development issues

You can view the movie trailer and register for the event. The preview screening and discussion run from 3:45 pm – 5:30 pm at CERIC’s office. Note seating is limited and registration is required.

Dr Cook will also deliver a free webinar on January 12 about her Redirection project research findings (registration to open soon) The documentary will officially launch at the Cannexus National Career Development Conference, which takes place from January 23-25, 2017 in Ottawa. The free film will be made available online after the conference, and can be used in work with clients.
