LinkedIn has become one of the most powerful tools for jobseekers – and yet, many people (including career development professionals) aren’t using it to its full potential due to its fast-changing nature and frequent evolutions. With over one billion users and 65 million companies represented, understanding how to show up authentically and strategically on the platform can make all the difference in a job search. If your LinkedIn advice hasn’t changed in two years, it’s outdated.
As a CDP, you likely work with various types of clients – whether newcomers, youth, adults in transition or individuals pursuing career change. Each group may face unique challenges in navigating LinkedIn effectively. - Understand the core components of a strong LinkedIn profile through the lens of diverse client needs and the new do’s and don’ts for profile development
- Apply strategies to help clients communicate their value clearly, authentically and in culturally appropriate ways through storytelling and keywords
- Explore strategies for effectively showcasing international and student experience, credentials and transferrable skills
- Learn how to guide clients with varying levels of digital literacy in using visuals, media and endorsements to enhance credibility
- Understand the features of LinkedIn Premium and whether the free version is “enough”
Webinar 2: From Profile to Presence: Helping Clients Enhance Visibility and Credibility

Webinar 3: From Networking to Opportunities: Using LinkedIn Strategically to Network and Uncover New Leads and Connections

- Guide clients to identify and research employers, decision-makers and organizational fit through LinkedIn
- Learn practical strategies for networking authentically – identifying who to connect with and how to reach out

Meet the presenter
Michelle Schafer is an author, ICF-certified coach and facilitator, specializing in career transition and leadership. She is the owner and founder of Michelle Schafer Coaching, empowering people to achieve career fulfillment, providing clients with job search support and LinkedIn strategies. Michelle is passionate about people and inspired by their progress, working with clients at all levels of an organization and across sectors including federal and municipal government, high tech, not-for-profit and financial services. Michelle offers coaching 1:1 and in groups, and most recently was recognized as one of Ottawa’s Top Coaches in 2024.
