Many Canadians Look For Help When It Comes To Career Planning

February 12, 2006January 23, 2006 – The Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) hosted a networking and information reception on January 19, 2006 in partnership with the Toronto Board of Trade at their downtown Toronto location.
It was a successful event that brought together over 100 career professionals from across the region with an opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends to learn more about CERIC’s history and development. The group was also updated on CERIC’s current and upcoming initiatives for the near future:
- CERIC’s survey conducted in early January by Ipsos-Reid provided insights into current views of fellow Canadians on how career counselling fits into their lives;
- CERIC’s research project focuses within the field of career development is a in-depth exploration of career counsellor education programs in Canada;
- The publishing of Good Work! Get a GREAT JOB or be your OWN BOSS: a young person’s guide, CERIC’s first publication authored by Nancy Schaefer, geared towards youth and those working with youth; and,
- Upcoming learning and professional development initiatives such as two regional Forums in Montreal (October 23-24, 2006), Vancouver (November 20-21, 2006) and a National Conference in Spring 2007 in Toronto.
