CERIC is pleased to announce support for the Hope-Centred Career Interventions project . Led by Tannis Goddard, Dr Norman Amundson, Dr Spencer Niles and Dr Hyung Joon Yoon, the project is a follow up to an earlier CERIC-funded exploratory project on the importance of hope for career decision-making.

The goal for the new project is to develop a range of counselling intervention methods and tools that can be used by career practitioners to bolster hope when engaging clients in either face-to-face delivery or through online delivery. These counselling interventions will be developed and implemented for unemployed jobseeking adults accessing public employment services in Canada.

Prior research supports the fact that hope plays a central role in career development (connected to career engagement, vocational identity and performance).

It is expected that this project will simulate interest among career counsellors and career development researchers in examining the causes and effects of career hope for the unemployed jobseeker, practitioners implementing online services to their clients and policymakers responsible for funding public employment centres.

The project is funded by CERIC in partnership with MixtMode, the University of British Columbia, the College of William and Mary and Al Akhawayn University.
