New literature search focuses on qualitative assessment techniques

CERIC’s most recent literature search explores Qualitative Assessment Techniques for Career Counsellors. Assessment is an important part of career counselling, however, until recently, assessment has taken a mainly quantitative approach. New resources are now being developed to focus on the qualitative side of assessment.

Topics covered in the literature search include:

• Constructivist assessment in career counselling
• The role of career assessment inventories in career counselling and career education
• Career assessments in transition planning
• Online career assessments
• How to develop a qualitative career assessment process

There are a total of 26 literature searches available, including Trends in E-counselling, Military Transition to Civilian Careers, Impact of Social Media on Career Counselling, and Career Development Challenges Facing Immigrants.

The literature searches feature comprehensive listings of key research and articles in career development, highlighting critical points of current knowledge.
