CERIC 2015 Annual Report now available

Showcasing another year of achievements, the 2015 Annual Report reflects on CERIC’s continued commitment to advancing the body of knowledge in career development in order to increase the economic and social well-being of Canadians.

In their annual report message, Executive Director Riz Ibrahim and Board Chair Jan Basso discussed the first year of CERIC’s second decade. They highlighted CERIC’s growing focus on proactive project partnerships, impact analysis and investment in organizational capacity including:

• Developing the Military to Civilian Employment: A Career Practitioner’s Guide in partnership with Canada Company and supported by Veterans Affairs Canada, Canadian Armed Forces and Military Family Services
• Launching Career Service Guide: Supporting People Affected by Mental Health Issues, aimed at improving the employment outcomes for the one in five Canadians who experience a mental health issue
• Conducting the 2015 edition of the CERIC Survey of Career Service Professionals completed by a remarkable 1,004 career service professionals across Canada
• Hosting a record Cannexus15 National Career Development Conference with 773 delegates and more 150 educational sessions
• Moving into a new office space at Foundation House, co-located with The Counselling Foundation of Canada as well as a number of other philanthropic and non-profit organizations

Some major projects that CERIC funded in 2015 explored the importance of career development issues related to refugee youth, women experiencing maternity leave career transition, older workers, post-secondary students and Inuit clients, as well as the role of hope in career development.

The annual report includes a review of key activities from the past year across CERIC’s three strategic priorities: Research & Learning, Community Hub & Collaboration and Advocacy & Profile, as well as an overview of financial performance in 2015. Special thanks is also made to CERIC’s funder The Counselling Foundation of Canada, volunteers, staff and a broad network of supporting organizations.
