Overview of the Webinar
From joining to navigating changes during services and eventually leaving, military service is all about transitions – not just for the serving member but also for their families. What does one need to join? What are the many ways they can serve? What are the benefits of service? How do military service impact families and what resources are available? And when it is time to leave, how can that be managed well?
The updated Military 2 Civilian Employment – A Career Practitioner’s Guide, launched at the Cannexus25 conference, describes how finding work after releasing is not always easy for members of the MVF (military, veteran and family) community. This webinar, fortified with an expert group of panellists, will provide information every career practitioner can benefit in knowing about tools, resources and approaches to best assist CAF military members as they join, serve and leave- i.e. any aspect of their military transition.
Why career professionals should attend
Whether career counsellors, employment advisors or job developers, we all want our clients to thrive in their career aspirations. To that end we stay atop of employment prospects, labour market trends and learn about the employers who are good matches for our client’s goals.
For career development practitioners working with clients considering a military career transitioning out of service or navigating career challenges during active service, this webinar will provide valuable insights into what military service entails, the range of opportunities available and the specific needs of those entering, serving or leaving the military. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is actively recruiting, and many individuals may find it to be a great fit. You may be surprised who is recruited or what life in today’s military entails – we’ll tackle common myths, provide clarity, and share up-to-date information to better support your clients.
This panel discussion will provide participants with tools, resources and strategies to support their clients—both individuals and their families—through the unique challenges of military service and transitions. Participants will walk away better equipped to guide their clients in making informed and successful career transitions—both into, within and out of military service.
