The Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) is a national association of community-based service providers and stakeholders who are active and invested in employment for persons with disabilities. This association seeks to promote and enhance the field of Supported Employment (defined as the process of facilitation around career exploration, job placement, retention and career development for persons with disabilities). CASE strives to improve labour market participation and outcomes, as well as social inclusion for Canadians with disabilities.

Career Possibilities for Newcomers

Career Possibilities for Newcomers is a new career exploration program geared towards helping newcomers to Canada. This inspiring, three week program includes free International Credential Assessments, activities designed to determine skills, interests and abilities, thorough occupational and labour market research techniques, individual career counselling, as well as assistance developing a resume and the creation of a Career Action Plan. We also administer several personality assessment tools to help match our clients’ interests with realistic career goals.

My Personal Journey

The way I grew up, feelings were denied and discouraged. While I was making my career choice, my father, a very knowledgeable man advised me to go in a field that was practical and safe, instead of going to humanity field. For these reasons and because it was popular, I chose civil engineering. During engineering study, my feelings and creativities could not be expressed in concrete calculating at all. The more effort I put in, the more worthless I felt. It was like using a strainer to ladle water. I resigned myself to mediocrity.

From March 12 to March 15, 2007, Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) will host YOUTHFORCE 2007 in partnership with the NS Department of Education and the Nova Scotia Community College. Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) has been successfully hosting this student outreach program for the past several years. 2007 promises to yield even greater success with a renewed commitment from our stakeholders to increase the number of student participants to 150, which is more than double the size of the program from last year.
