The Cannexus18 National Career Development Conference, taking place January 22-24, 2018 in Ottawa, will feature the return of Spark!, our highly popular TED-style talks. Four speakers will each give a 10-minute presentation on a diverse topic to “spark” you to think differently about your work.

A new CERIC-funded research study led by the Sheridan Centre for Elder Research will address the gap in knowledge about the state of senior entrepreneurship in Canada by investigating the experiences, needs and interests of individuals who have either launched or would like to start their own business after age 50. With the country’s demographic shift to an aging workforce well underway, increasing numbers of older Canadians are turning to entrepreneurship; however very little is known about them and what kind of career guidance and support they require.
The CERIC volunteer Board of Directors for the upcoming year is now in place, reflecting a broad cross-section of the diverse career development field from across Canada.
With a theme of “Extending our Reach, Expanding our Impact,” the 2016 CERIC Annual Report highlights our efforts as a charitable organization to engage new audiences with our proactive research and learning partnerships. Our overarching vision for this work continues to be increasing the economic and social well-being of Canadians through career development.
